These sessions are specifically designed to make the practices of yoga and meditation accessible and beneficial for individuals with disabilities. This inclusive course aims to create a supportive and empowering environment where participants can experience the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga and meditation, tailored to their unique abilities and needs. Sessions will include the following: Adaptive Yoga Asana Practice: Participants will engage in an adaptive yoga practice that is customized to accommodate various disabilities and mobility challenges. The focus will be on gentle movements, modifications, and the use of props to enhance stability, balance, strength, and flexibility. The instructor will personalize for the student. Mindful Breathing Techniques: Participants will learn breathing techniques that promote relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. These techniques can help manage anxiety, increase focus, and cultivate a sense of calm. The instructor will offer adaptations to suit individual breathing capabilities and needs. Meditation and Mindfulness Practices: The course will incorporate meditation and mindfulness practices tailored to the abilities of participants with disabilities. This may include guided meditation, body scan meditation, loving-kindness meditation, or visualization techniques. The instructor will provide guidance and adaptations to support participants in cultivating present-moment awareness, inner peace, and emotional well-being. Sensory Integration and Regulation: The course may include practices that focus on sensory integration and regulation. Participants will explore techniques to enhance body awareness, proprioception, and sensory grounding. These practices can assist in managing sensory sensitivities and promoting a sense of calm and self-regulation. Self-care and Emotional Well-being: The course will emphasize self-care practices and strategies for promoting emotional well-being.
